WIKF World
Champions during 2 successive world tournaments made a fantastic impression
upon spectators at the ‘Unite for Japan’ Martial Aid event in London’s
Brentwood Fountain Leisure centre in Chiswick on Saturday 22nd of May 2011.
Angelos Gorgas & Panagoitis Kousounadis came all the way to London from
Greece at the request of Professor Tatsuo Suzuki (PHD) Hanshi.
They displayed a first class exhibition of Tanto Dori to welcoming
spectators in support of the charity event to raise funds for the Japanese
Red Cross.
Several martial arts groups from various traditional disciplines shared the
floor united in their efforts to help the work being done towards the
disaster they sadly experienced in March 2011. The monies donated from those
WIKF clubs who contributed to the event will add to a healthy donation
currently being calculated. Thanks to those of you who attended and
pass on our thanks to those who made donations in your area.
Angelos & Panagoitis were extremely sharp and precise in their demonstration
thanks to Sensei Suzuki drilling the routine repeatedly the night before in
his local dojo. Like all of Sensei’s students, they will have the phrase
‘again, again, again...’ ringing in their ears forever as he insists on the
standard being the highest attainable.
Thanks again Angelos & Panagoitis and to our Sensei for the everlasting
lessons of determination and spirit he instils in all of us.
Tony Utting – Secretary WIKF (England)
