Selection Success for

Alex Little

Six members of the Ken-Bu-Kan squad attended the Southern Region All Styles training at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.  Following the training was selections for the forth coming National All styles Regional Team Championships.  Alex Little (2005 WIKF British National and World Champion) was successful in being selected to represent Southern England in this event.  The Championships are being held at Ponds Forge Sports Centre in Sheffield on Saturday 18th March and they will be competing against teams from the other two England Regions, Northern and Midlands, with the Southern area being the largest of the three regions.

Alex, along with James Witt from Higashi, Alex Sell from Shuhari-Kai and one other athlete will complete the line-up, representing the best athletes in the boys 14-15 year old section.  They were all chosen following the selections held at Bisham Abbey National sports centre and on past performances and results.  Alex was clearly in the top two, as he won all his bouts, including a double victory over Alex Sell, a very experienced and successful Southern Region competitor.

This is now the second National Regional Championships for Children.  In 2005, the Southern Region won the Championships, winning 3 out of the 4 team Kumite events including the 14-15 boys.  Earlier this year, Alex teamed up with James Witt and Alex Sell at the British International Open Championships at Crystal Palace, and the trio then picked up a bronze medal competing against some of Europe’s finest.  With results like this, who would bet against this team winning this event for the Southern Region a second time?

Good luck to Alex Little, and the rest of the Southern Region team at the Championships.

(Alex Little winning the 2005 World Championships, Texas, USA)
